The Researcher's Reflection

Through the project, I begin to reflect on my own relationship with my subject of study. I received the above keyring from a friend whom I have known since we were 6-7 years old. It was mailed to me during a time in my life where I was confused about life after graduating from university in 2018. It accompanied me on the laptop bag I brought to interviews and other places. When I did not need to use that bag anymore, I hung the keyring on a noticeboard where I also pin up other meaningful mementos.

This leather bag charm was bought during a trip to Bangkok in 2015. It was a gift from someone, and it lay unused until I bought a small black backpack from the brand Muji, maybe in 2019. Muji is known for their minimalist designs. I really appreciate the simplicity, but ironically, it felt too plain so I attached the accessory to add personality and a kind of charm (pun unintended) to the bag. It was well used and loved. One of the leaves has dropped off, and is awaiting repair.
